I've known Ian since he was 11 years old. Once his youth group leader at church and one of his counselors at camp, he is now a dear friend. When he first started dating Ashley and introduced me to her I was skeptical - was this girl good enough for our Ian?! Ashley and I quickly bonded over about a million things - our love of boy bands, the Flyers and photographs just to name to few! It wasn't long before I started considering Ashley my friend - with or without Ian around! When they got engaged Ashley asked me about our wedding photography and I very quickly tried to talk her out of wanting to hire us. This job is a lot of pressure and when you're doing it for a friend that pressure is about x 1,000! But, obviously, she talked me into it and Bri and I had a wonderful time capturing their amazing day!
If you don't already know the story, Ashley and Ian are HUGE Philadelphia sports fans. They actually met discussing the Flyers on Twitter! After talking for a while online they decided to meet in person and the rest is history. So as you'll see there were many sports references throughout their day, including a trip to an ice rink for portraits! It was such a fun day!
Bri arrived at the Hartman residence mid Saturday morning to capture the girls getting ready.
Ashley requested some shots of her bridesmaids (and bridesman) without her first, while she finished getting ready. These baseball jerseys were Ashley's gift to all of them! On the back of them is their last name and the number of years Ashley has known them!
I love the "just wait til you see her" shot! And below that, they are all holding chalkboards that say how they met Ashley.
Then back inside to finish getting the bride ready!
Meanwhile at the Johnston residence....
Lots of fun shots at the cabana!
Off to the church! Almost go time!
Here she comes!
Officially husband and wife!
After photos at the church we headed over to the Bucks County Ice Sports Center for portraits!
What made this spot even more special is that Ian grew up playing hockey in this rink. And then we got there and found out that apparently Archbishop Wood HS (where Ashley graduated from) plays there, as their logo is on the ice!
Lots of trash talk going on during this boys against girls match!
This is one of my favorite shots, Ashley made this gorgeous bouquet! I'm not usually a fan of silk flower bouquets, but I think she changed my mind because hers is stunning!
Funny story, while getting that bouquet shot, I got stuck to the ice. I had a sweater on because it was freezing in there and I had to lay down to get that photo. When I went to get up I couldn't because my sweater had froze to the ice! Once I finally peeled it off and got up we then noticed my frozen leg, ha! All worth it for good photos!
After leaving the rink, we headed over to the reception location - The Buck Hotel, where we got some more portraits outside.
Since we hadn't gotten any solo shots of Ian we grabbed a couple quick on these fun stairs.
Boys will be boys...
Wedding day details are so fun!
So another fun story (seriously, this wedding has SO many fun stories), Ashley's favorite local band is The Rockets. She's been going to see them for years, she knows the guys personally she's seen them so many times! Well, her amazing boss talked to Ian about booking the band as their wedding gift to them. But they wanted to keep it a surprise for Ashley until the last minute - and they did! Just a few days before the wedding, Ashley's boss sat her down with a video of the band revealing that they'd be playing the wedding!
The grand entrance!
First dance! That shot on the right of them singing to each other... I love it so much.
And another fun surprise (didn't I tell you there were a million?!), unbeknownst to Ian, Ashley had been taking voice lessons for months and serenaded him right after their first dance.
Parent dances... the groom with his mother, the bride with her godfather and father.
I love this one of Ashley singing with the band!
Time to cut that beautiful cake!
And the party went on and on! Love these shots of the bridal party up on stage with the band!
Ashley and Ian, once again, congratulations! Your wedding was one of the most fun and exciting weddings I've ever been to! You're both amazing and deserved such an amazing day! Thank you for asking us to be a part of your day, we hope you will treasure these photos for years to come. Love you guys!
